]]>I want the water itself, without surrounding landscape, to be the telling image. Color is as necessary as a blush to reveal emotion. My friend tells me she sees monsters and demons in these images--indeed, my associations, too--but I've retreated from suggestive titles and simply provide identification of place and date. Perhaps this allows the viewer an imaginative participation.

]]>Images of plants and pools in The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2006-2010. I hadn't set out to do a photography project. My wanderings in The Gardens were for rest and enjoyment, the camera a pleasant companion for exploring the play of light and shadow throughout the houses. To paraphrase Garry Winogrand, I wanted to see what the plants and water looked like photographed.
