I want the water itself, without surrounding landscape, to be the telling image. Color is as necessary as a blush to reveal emotion. My friend tells me she sees monsters and demons in these images--indeed, my associations, too; as I photographed and edited, each image formed about a gestalt, suggesting a mythological being. Many of the images come from a small stream that courses through my back yard. Others are from my travels: a beautiful stream that runs through the botanical garden at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and the meditation garden at Omega, Rhinebeck, NY. The photographs have appeared in LensWork #99 along with an audio interview conducted by Brooks Jensen.
